Bio

Edward McGown is a graduate of the MFA Film Program at Columbia University, New York where he studied as a Fulbright scholar and as a recipient of the school’s top prize, the FMI Fellowship for directing. His thesis film for Columbia, Out There, starred Jamie Foreman (Nil By Mouth, Roman Polanski’s Oliver Twist) and was awarded the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Student Award in the US, as well as being selected by the British Council Short Film scheme to tour festivals worldwide. His short films have played in numerous international film festivals including Edinburgh, LA, Palm Springs, Encounters and at the Kodak Straight 8 Awards at the Cannes Film Festival.

Edward’s recent projects include directing on Channel 4′s Hollyoaks, writing and developing a comedy drama, Citizen Service, for BBC3; and direction of a documentary on Ken Loach for the British Film Institute. He is currently on location in Argentina directing his debut feature film, The Rules of the Game.

In addition, Edward also works as a director and writer on commercials and virals for TV and online platforms for clients such as Cobra Beer, John Lewis, Gazprom, The Sunday Times, KPMG and Barclays.
