Making David Attenborough’s Conquest of the Skies (Sky 1)

I directed this hour long, primetime documentary following Sir David Attenborough as he made his latest landmark 3D series for Sky on animal flight, Conquest of the Skies. I self-shot the show on a Sony PMW-300 (along with an army of go-pros) over the course of a year in a range of challenging locations – from a freezing Loch Lomond in Scotland to the depths of the Bornean rainforest. The programme was broadcast in January 2015.

You can find highlights from the show below:

Swans on Loch Lomond

The secret to how David sailed directly alongside a flock of whooper swans in full flight on Loch Lomond.

Gomantong Cave – Cockroaches

David and the team explore a cave in Borneo that plays host to one of the largest concentrations of cockroaches on Earth

Gomantong Cave – Bat Exodus

David is winched over 200 feet in the air in a cave in Borneo to observe the mass exodus of a million bats.
